AGENDA FOR CHILDREN — "Agenda for Children" was founded to make Louisiana a state in which all children can thrive, by ensuring that the basic needs of children and families are met; that our children are nurtured and well taught, beginning in the early years and continuing through adolescence; that they are protected from harm; and by acting in ways that combat racism and other forms of oppression."
NATIONAL CHILDCARE ASSOCIATION — The NCCA is active in national childcare issues and works in Washington to balance the quality, affordability, and availability of licensed, private childcare and education programs.
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN — NAEYC administers an accreditation system to improve the quality of education and care provided in programs for young children. Its Web site provides information for families concerning early childhood development and childcare issues.
ADMINISTRATION FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES — The ACF is a federal agency that funds state, territory, local, and tribal organizations to provide family assistance (welfare), child support, childcare, Head Start, child welfare, and other programs relating to children and families.
NATIONAL AFTER- SCHOOL ASSOCIATION — The NAA is a professional association dedicated to the development, education, and care of children and youth during their out-of-school hours. Its site offers publications, articles, and numerous other resources for parents.
HEALTHY FAMILY — This informative Web site features hundreds of reliable, in-depth articles, resources, and quality information about natural, holistic parenting plus carefully-selected natural, non-toxic products for keeping your children safe and healthy.
Sesame Street Hurricane Kit — Hurricanes, storms, and other natural disasters can be difficult for young children who may not fully understand what's going on around them. These tips, activities, and videos can help them feel safe, cope with emotions, and understand that there is hope for the future.

On years where the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, a substitute day is chosen by the office, and parents are notified in advance so preparations can be made.
